The Family Book by Todd Parr is a good start to a conversation about many types of families. Although, I tend to favor more realistic art when discussing diversity, the pictures stretch from blue people to red fish and makes it fun to see what’s next. The sentences are to the point, allowing plenty of room to build a discussion with from lives and stories of your students.
